These are very compact spirals, easily fitting into tight fixtures. I bought 4 for use lighting a hallway 24 hours a day, 2/fixture. They throw a warm light, just as pleasing as an incandescent but using a tiny fraction of the energy consumed by a filament bulb. No one suspects I've switched to fluorescent unless I volunteer the fact. CFLs with a wattage this low (5 watt CFL is roughly equivalent to a 30 watt incandescent) are nearly impossible to find at a big box retailer, so stock up here.
